Durability of the govt depends on Maoist actions: JN Khanal - Sep 29, 2008
Kathmandu NewsLine: CPN-UML general secretary Jhala Nath Khanal on Sunday said that the longevity of the coalition government would depend on the behavior and activities of the Maoist party which leads it.
"If the Maoists don't mend their ways then it would be very hard to sustain the government," Khanal said while speaking during an interaction at Reporters' Club in the capital.
The Maoist led coalition government comprises two important allies - CPN-UML and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). Together, the three parties make up a 2/3rd majority in the Constituent Assembly (MJF), but the survival of the government hinges on CPN-UML's support to the government.
Khanal said that his party became a part of the coalition government accepting the responsibility borne on the shoulders of party by the country's circumstances.
He echoed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister's Bam Dev Gautam's views that possession of weapons except by the security personnel within the CA promises is objectionable and a violation of law.
